Here's a challenge - look at these words EVERY DAY until you can read them with your eyes closed! Then, I'll give you some more words to learn. Guess what? You can print out the same science vocabulary cards that we will be using in our classroom! Here's a movie featuring many of the symbols our class will be working on. You can watch it many times to help you remember what you read!
Hey kids, test your new science smarts at home! Try to sort these objects into the right groups. Munchers are a great way for 1st graders to practice critical thinking skills. While it’s fun to feed the Munchers, a student is actually working through the complicated process of sorting one or more sounds, objects, or numbers into multiple categories, and working on an explanation for his or her decision! Stay tuned for a video of our class Munchers in action. For now, consider making some to use at home to practice sorting two sounds (consonants, long or short vowels), two kinds of numbers (even, odd), or ordering numbers (least, greatest). Click here for instructions, and check back soon as more ideas are to come!

On Monday, January 18th, we'll have a national holiday to honor the memory of MLK. Here is a video clip to help us understand why the things that he believed are still very important. |
"If you are a dreamer, come in. If you are a dreamer, a wisher...a hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean-buyer...If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire, for we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in!" Archives
